A St George Street Garden Cottage
Bonnie and Lou had no intention of buying a house in St Augustine, but one look at this cottage and they put their large home on 11 acres in South Carolina on the market and made an offer.
A dramatic downsizing created the opportunity for playful creativity.
The Coral Living Room
This long, vibrantly colored room is also the main entry. We arranged it to have 2 entertaining areas.
A translucent linen swag and decorative iron finial soften the window and let in the natural light.
The house and gardens had been meticulously maintained. Bonnie and Lou loved the colors. They wanted to make it more their own incorporating modern furnishings, English country, and Art Deco, with an extensive collection of elephant themed artwork.
The Dining Room
The diminutive apricot dining room became a jewel box. We designed custom made, lighted, corner cabinets, added a stunning Art Deco chandelier and had chairs painted and covered to compliment the vintage dining table. The linen swag finishes the room.
A painting by local artist, Phillip Anthony evokes the waterlilies in the garden pond.
The Kitchen
The delightful lime green kitchen needed a pantry, so we had one made to match the existing cabinetry.
The whimsical valance added a colorful playfulness.
The Sunroom
The sunshine yellow sunroom does triple duty as a guest room (the sofa is a sofa bed), and an art studio for Bonnie.
We made the window seat cushions in the same fabric as the dining chairs, creating a flowing color palette throughout the house.
Remote controlled solar shades provide privacy.
A custom lighted cabinet was made to display family treasures.
The "Man Crevice"
This small ante room off of the sunroom serves as Lou's office and TV room. We found 2 comfy leather recliners to fit and had the built-in secretary desk made.
The Bedroom Suite
Custom bedding and window treatments coordinate with the hand painted bedside tables. The bold hand carved bed works well with the oversized French armoire. The elephant motif lends a playful touch.
We brought the bedroom fabrics into the adjoining bathroom.
A million thanks to Jody for a really wonderful design process! We have now worked together on two homes! We moved in just a little over 2 years to a new home here in Florida! I wanted to use as much of the furniture I had in a completely different space! I was so thrilled with how our home on Saint George Street looked and felt and I wanted to make sure our new place was as charming and beautiful! Jody worked so well with me…I am eclectic in taste and pretty opinionated about how things should look! (Not everyone’s dream client)! That said Jody was collaborative, provided wonderful guidance, had a fabulous group of contacts to “get the job done right”! I highly recommend her for any design project you may have, she’s a delight!
